South Shore Drill Team and Performing Arts Ensemble - Dixon Historic Theatre
We are pleased to welcome back the South Shore Drill Team & Performing Arts Ensemble to our 44th Petunia Festival. They will be doing a special one hour performance @ 6:00 PM, at the Dixon Historic Theatre following the parade. It is entertainment that promises to be fun and entertaining for all age groups.
The team's unique marching style and precession has allowed them to perform all over the United States and abroad. Their repertoire includes contemporary music, jazz, hip-hop, modern dance numbers, and more.
Former Chicago Public School teacher Arthur Robertson established the South Shore Drill Team & Performing Arts Ensemble in 1980, with only four members. Today their membership has grown to over 300, with performers ranging in age from 9 –21. The group was designed as an alternative to gang activity, high school drop outs & teen pregnancy; offering the youth of Chicago an opportunity to develop self-esteem, self-discipline, goals for their future, and a chance to travel.
The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for 13 years and younger.
